Fireworks and Page Turners

Is there such a thing as too many books? Olivia here, filling in for Kelly with a post independence day book related story.
Yesterday, I invited one of my best friends over for a Fourth of July party. After a glass of wine and a scoop of fruit cobbler the conversation turned to books, as it so often does. My friend is a fellow book lover, and had just come back from the beach, where she had read no less than five books and was in need of some new reading material. I promise I only intended to give her 1 or 2. Honest. But after we spent about a half hour in front of my overstuffed shelves, something happened and she ended up walking out with a stack about five books deep. And with the biggest smile on her face.
We promised to stay in close touch while she read them because let's face it, some of my recommendations were based solely on "I read this and now you must read it too so we can discuss." Books have that magic power to bring people together like that. I can't recall how many times I've gotten a text in the early morning hours complaining about the cliffhanger, a phone call to discuss which character was best, or a friendly lunch turned into an in depth discussion about what that mysterious ending truly meant. And for this friend that I don't get to meet that often, it's an excuse for us to see each other and connect. I can't wait to see her again, and bond over our love of the written word like we've never been apart.
